Incentivized Study Hour Program

The College of Health and Human Sciences offers an Incentivized Study Hour program for students in their first year at SIUC who may be at risk for academic success. If a student logs three hours of supervised study per week throughout the semester, they receive a $500 scholarship at the end, applied to the next academic term.

The program is located in ASA 112, on the first floor of the Applied Science and Arts building. Students swipe their id when entering and leaving to have their hours recorded. It is expected that this time is used for studying or other forms of course work.

For the Fall 2022 term, those who participated in the program achieved a semester GPA that was 12.5% higher than students that did not participate in the study hour program (a statistically significant difference). CHHS is willing to invest scholarship dollars in your success; if you take advantage of the program, you are also likely to see a significant increase in your GPA.

For more information about the program, please contact Associate Dean Mullins (cmullins@siu.edu).
