3rd Annual MAI Aviation Technician Skills Competition
October 24, 2016
The Aviation Technologies Detail Dawgs competed in the 3rd Annual MAI Aviation Technician Skills competition in Ottumwa Iowa on Friday and did quite well. This was a Midwest Regional competition consisting of aviation colleges and universities as well as professionals in the industry. SIU students took all three top spots coming in first, second, and third in the overall competition. Again competing not just with other schools but with professionals employed in the industry. In addition to the overall win, SIU took first and third in the student division and came in first in many of the individual events as well. Mr. Harry Fanning, Lecturer of Aviation Technologies, is the coach and faculty advisor for the Aviation Technologies Detail Dawgs. Congratulations!
We are incredibly proud of our Detail Dawgs. This was their first competition but we are not surprised that they absolutely cleaned up, demonstrating and confirming our reputation that SIU is the place to go for top notch aviation maintenance training!
The team now begins training for their first international competition in the Spring.
