  • Students in the Fashion Design and Merchandising program held their annual Student Showcase and Runway Fashion Show at the Student Center on April 25. The 2019 exhibit featured student designs, examples of course work and student projects from a variety of classes, including the work of four seniors.
  • Christopher Regalado, a senior specializing in the School of Architecture’s construction management program is the program’s first @HACIAworks scholarship recipient. Regalado, a 2014 graduate of Lane Tech High School in Chicago, was among recipients honored Feb. 18 in Chicago. The Hispanic American Construction Industry Association Scholarship and Education Foundation annually awards up to $45,000 in scholarships to deserving students studying in the construction field.
  • Brendon Bangert, a senior in architectural studies, was part of a team that designed a 1,800 square-foot Kentucky-themed four-stall horse barn using precast concrete to earn the People’s Choice Award at the inaugural Project Precast national design competition in March. Bangert was one of 15 students selected nationwide to compete.
  • About 160 children from infant to 14 years old participated in the Dental Hygiene program’s annual “Give Kids A Smile Day” in March. Since its inception in 2003, more than 2,500 local children have received care.
  • The online Public Safety and Homeland Security Management master’s degree program was recently judged to be among the nation’s best in quality and affordability. OnlineMasters.com in mid-December selected the program to be among the top five accredited public and private non-profit institutions in “Best Public Safety Administration Programs” for working professionals for 2019. The program also ranks No. 5 by CollegeChoice.net for the least expensive online master’s in public safety administration degree.
