Hands-on careers require hands-on learning. Our clinics, labs, hangars, bay, and field work contribute valuable knowledge and services to the community.
Community Care and Education Center (CCEC)
The Community Care and Education Center is an interdisciplinary hub offering integrated clinical, behavioral health, and social services to underserved populations in southern Illinois. Located in a high-need rural region, the center provides residential and outpatient care for individuals with autism, developmental disorders, and severe mental illness. It also serves as a hands-on training site for students in social work, nursing, public health, and education, helping to address regional workforce and service gaps.
Dental Hygiene Clinic
The Dental Hygiene Clinic provides affordable oral care services to students, faculty, staff, and the local community. Services include cleanings, exams, X-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, and more. Care is provided by dental hygiene students under the supervision of licensed dentists and clinical faculty, ensuring both quality treatment and hands-on educational experience.
Elena M Sliepcevich Center for Health Education Studies
The Elena M. Sliepcevich Centre for Health Education Studies honors the legacy of Dr. Elena Sliepcevich and other pioneering health educators. The Centre serves as a hub for historical research and scholarship in health education, housing the landmark School Health Education Study, personal memorabilia, and decades of archival materials. Visitors can explore the collection online and are invited to contribute personal and professional stories to the growing archive.
Motor Cycle Rider Program
The Motorcycle Rider Program conducts FREE Motorcycle Rider Courses throughout Southern Illinois. The courses are designed to provide a foundation of knowledge and skills for people who have never ridden as well as those who have ridden tens of thousands of miles.
Transportation Education Center (TEC)
The Transportation Education Center is a 185,000-square-foot facility that houses the Automotive Technology, Aviation Technologies, and Aviation Management & Flight programs. A majority of the space is dedicated to the Automotive Technology program.
